Technology Lead | Perm | Auckland (Hybrid)

This is a rare opportunity to step into a true build-from-scratch Technology Lead role within a fast-growing, purpose-led organisation. You’ll work directly with the CEO to shape the technology function, build a high-performing engineering team, and deliver meaningful digital solutions that make a real-world impact.

About the role

This is a hands-on leadership role where you’ll own the end-to-end technology function: people, process, and delivery.

You’ll be responsible for building and leading an internal engineering team, establishing ways of working, and delivering high-quality software across a growing product ecosystem. Working closely with senior stakeholders and external partners, you’ll bridge strategy and execution, turning direction into tangible outcomes.

Key areas include:
  • Building and leading a high-performing engineering team (perm + contractors)
  • Establishing agile delivery practices, engineering standards, and team rituals
  • Remaining hands-on in development—coding, reviewing, and guiding best practice
  • Delivering integrations and core platforms across operational and customer systems
  • Supporting architecture decisions and ensuring strong alignment with execution
  • Owning DevOps maturity across CI/CD, environments, monitoring, and release processes
  • Ensuring data security, privacy, and compliance standards are met (PII/PHI)
  • Managing vendor relationships and communicating effectively with non-technical stakeholders
About you

You’re a senior engineer turned leader who still enjoys being close to the tools. You’ve likely built or scaled teams before and thrive in environments where you can create structure, not just operate within it. You’ll bring:
  • ~10+ years in software engineering, with 4+ years in technical leadership roles
  • Proven experience building or scaling engineering teams (ideally in growth or startup environments)
  • Strong hands-on development capability—comfortable coding and reviewing regularly
  • Solid understanding of modern architecture (microservices, APIs, cloud platforms)
  • Experience working with cloud environments (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
  • Strong DevOps understanding (CI/CD, IaC, monitoring, testing practices)
  • Experience working in regulated or data-sensitive environments
  • Ability to communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
You’ll also be someone who leads with integrity, brings a human-centred approach, and enjoys building something meaningful. If this sounds like you, don't hesitate and apply Today!
