Our client, a global technology leader in secure identity solutions, is looking for a hands-on Project Manager to take a major New Zealand public infrastructure technology programme through its delivery phase.
Design and build are complete. The project is now moving into physical equipment installation, testing, go-live and hypercare across several sites nationwide.
This is a delivery-focused role. You'll be across the detail, working with technical teams, product software specialists and customer stakeholders to get each site live and stable.
What you'll be doing
- Managing the physical rollout of new equipment across multiple sites
- Coordinating technical and product software activities with internal teams and the customer
- Carrying out site surveys to confirm readiness ahead of installation. The customer manages civil works and site coordination.
- Planning and running installation, testing and go-live, with rollouts running across two sites in parallel
- Leading hypercare and making sure each site transitions smoothly into support
- Building strong working relationships with customer and site stakeholders
- Managing schedule, risks, issues and reporting for your delivery streams
- Working closely with the incumbent Project Manager during a planned three-month handover
- Proven hands-on project delivery experience in technical, IT or application rollouts
- Comfortable coordinating hardware and software installation, testing and go-live activities
- Confident working with customers and stakeholders at all levels
- Organised and detail-focused, with the ability to spot inconsistencies and manage competing priorities
- Adaptable and positive when plans change, and able to help others through that change
- Clear, structured communicator, written and verbal
- Pitched at a delivery-level PM, not a senior programme manager. You'll own one focused delivery stream rather than manage multiple PMs or workstreams.
- Experience in public infrastructure, transport, or other secure, regulated environments
- Exposure to identity or similar specialist technology (not essential)
- An existing New Zealand security clearance (preferred)
- Primarily Wellington-based to be close to the customer
- Regular travel to sites around New Zealand is required, typically 3–4 days at a time, sometimes across 2–3 consecutive weeks, followed by periods without travel.
- Some sites are delivered in phases over roughly three months.
An early start is preferred, ideally in November or before Christmas, to allow a full handover period.
Our client's culture
You'll join a team that values curiosity, trust, care, daring and working together. They are looking for someone who takes initiative, builds good relationships, acts with integrity and wants to contribute to the wider team.
