Remote-first, with the flexibility you'd expect from a modern consultancy and the variety that comes with working across a range of NZ clients. Some on-site client work will be expected.
The role
No two projects look the same here. You'll move between greenfield builds, modernisation work, and everything in between depending on the client.
Day to day you'll be:
- Leading end-to-end delivery across multiple client projects (60% hands on engineering)
- Full-stack architecture and build. Node.js and TypeScript are home base, but they're open to strong engineers from other language backgrounds
- AWS cloud infrastructure using IaC tools like Terraform or CloudFormation
- CI/CD pipeline setup and maintenance
- Mentoring and growing a small team of engineers, roughly 3 or more direct reports
- Client-facing work, building relationships and keeping projects on track
- Contributing to how the team operates and improving engineering practices across the group
Must-haves:
- 7+ years in software development with a quality engineering foundation
- Comfortable with current hands on full-stack development (back-end through to front-end and cloud)
- Solid cloud experience with a preference for AWS
- Experience mentoring or growing other engineers. No formal management title needed, but you need to have genuinely invested in the people around you
- Able to hold a good conversation with clients, not just technically, but as someone who builds trust and keeps things moving
- Auckland-based
- Legacy modernisation or platform migration experience
- Mobile app development background
- Any pre-sales or client-facing delivery experience
The founders want to bring people in and actually hand things over. Real ownership of engineering practices, client approach, and team development. If you've been in a larger org where good ideas take a while to get off the ground, the setup here is noticeably different.
