Our client are a well-regarded Auckland digital consultancy who are looking for a Tech Lead that genuinely understands the "why" behind what they build, can talk confidently with clients, and is ready to grow into a leadership position. If you're someone who stays curious, uses AI as a genuine tool in your work, and can explain architecture to a room of stakeholders without breaking a sweat, keep reading.
The Role
- Lead technical delivery across varied client engagements, from full-stack builds to complex legacy integrations
- Work directly with clients to understand needs and shape solutions, not just execute briefs
- Explain technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences
- Contribute to pre-sales conversations and proposal development alongside the leadership team
- Champion security, architecture, and engineering best practice by explaining the reasoning, not just following convention
- Grow into line management responsibilities as you settle in
Must-haves:
- Solid software engineering foundations, you understand how architecture fits together and can articulate why decisions are made
- Strong communicator who can simplify the complex without losing accuracy
- Genuinely AI-savvy, you use AI tools daily and know how to get good outcomes from them
- Comfortable with ambiguity and adapting across different tech stacks and environments
- Curious by nature, you ask why, not just how
- Consulting or client-facing experience
- Exposure to pre-sales or solution design conversations
- Experience mentoring or leading small teams
- A clear pathway into technical leadership with line management responsibility on the horizon
- Genuinely varied work, no two projects are the same
