Senior UI Developer

Senior  UI Developer | Contract (12-month) | Auckland (Hybrid)

We're looking for an experienced UI Developer to join a high-performing team delivering engaging, scalable ecommerce experiences for a well-established organisation based in Auckland.

About the role
This is a hands-on role focused on building rich, responsive user interfaces and reusable components that provide seamless customer experiences across web storefronts. You'll work closely with UX designers, backend engineers and delivery teams to bring digital experiences to life while ensuring performance, maintainability and cross-browser compatibility.

Your key responsibilities will include:

• Developing and maintaining high-quality, reusable UI components for ecommerce platforms.
• Building modern interfaces using JavaScript, TypeScript and Lit Web Components.
• Translating wireframes and designs into functional, responsive user experiences.
• Integrating frontend applications with RESTful APIs and backend services.
• Optimising web applications for speed, scalability and accessibility.
• Performing debugging, testing and performance tuning to ensure high-quality releases.

About You

You'll be a strong front-end engineer who enjoys crafting polished customer experiences and can operate independently within a fast-paced delivery environment.  Ideally, you'll bring:

• 5–10 years' experience developing modern web applications, preferably within ecommerce environments.
• Strong commercial experience with JavaScript and TypeScript.
• Hands-on experience building applications with Lit Web Components.
• Solid jQuery expertise and advanced CSS skills, including Flexbox, Grid, animations and responsive design techniques.
• Experience developing reusable, scalable component libraries.
• Knowledge of HTML5, DOM manipulation and browser APIs.
• Experience integrating REST APIs and working with asynchronous programming patterns.
