The Role
A well-known central government agency is looking for a Senior Project Manager to lead delivery across three squads under the PEGA Centre of Excellence. Working closely with the Platform Lead, you will coordinate a busy backlog covering platform operations, a privacy upgrade across the Registers ecosystem, and various system changes.
Day-to-day you will:
- Own and manage quarterly work plans across three delivery squads
- Develop and maintain delivery plans for two significant programme workstreams
- Navigate governance forums, vendor relationships, and multi-agency stakeholder groups
- Keep delivery on track across technical, business, and change management dimensions
- Operate across strategic and tactical levels, from roadmap planning to sprint-level coordination
Must-haves:
- Proven experience delivering complex enterprise technology projects in large organisations
- Hands-on experience with PEGA or a comparable enterprise workflow/BPM platform
- Comfortable in hybrid delivery models with technical dependencies, environments, and releases
- Strong track record working with architects, developers, BAs, product owners, and vendors
- Skilled at managing multi-agency stakeholder relationships with discretion and confidence
- Background in government, regulatory, privacy, or customer-facing service environments
- Experience in data, privacy, or customer care programmes
- Ability to get up to speed fast and deliver under tight timeframes
This is not a role for someone who wants to manage from a distance. You will be in the thick of meaningful public sector delivery, working on systems that affect New Zealanders directly. Based in Auckland with hybrid working on offer, the contract runs through to the end of June 2027 with an immediate start for the right person.
