The Role
This is a key business partnering role sitting within the Strategy, Finance & Policy Group. As Senior Project Accountant, you'll act as the critical link between the Business Support team and a Development delivery team ensuring financial reporting, forecasting, and budgeting are accurate, timely, and decision-ready.
You'll take ownership of monthly and annual project reporting, Capital Expenditure and Opex analysis, Cost to Complete/Cost at Completion assessments, and budget uploads across multiple financial systems. You'll also play a hands-on role in improving reporting processes and upskilling the wider team on financial practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Business partner a Development Team to provide high-quality financial reporting and analysis
- Prepare and critique Cost to Complete/Cost at Completion data
- Lead budgeting and forecasting in collaboration with Development Team management
- Ensure accuracy and integrity of Capital WIP reporting and the fixed asset register
- Support year-end activities including audit and asset revaluation
- Provide ad hoc analysis and reports for senior leadership
- Identify and support continuous process and reporting improvements
- Liaise with Treasury and other government bodies on cash flow and financial matters
What You'll Bring
- CA qualified (or equivalent)
- Tertiary qualification in Accounting
- Proven experience in financial reporting, analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and month-end/annual reporting
- Strong background in programme/project reporting and financial modelling
- Oracle experience (Financial and Project Modules) highly desirable
- Business partnering experience, ideally within a large capital programme environment
- A continuous improvement mindset and strong analytical capability
