Are you a communications grad or junior advisor ready to sink your teeth into something genuinely different? This isn't a standard 9-to-5 comms role, and that's exactly what makes it exciting.
We're looking for a sharp, motivated communicator to join a fast-paced transport control room environment, where your words help keep Auckland moving.
You'll be working on the front lines of real-time network communications, drafting urgent messaging, attending incident briefings, and helping the public navigate disruptions as they happen.

About the Role

This is a hands-on communications role supporting a major transport network. You'll be responsible for delivering proactive and reactive communications across digital channels, from planned disruptions to live incidents

Key responsibilities include:
  • Drafting and delivering high-quality communications plans
  • Attending event and incident briefings to develop key messages
  • Providing real-time communications support during major incidents or emergencies
  • Collaborating with comms, engagement, and transport planning colleagues to ensure consistent, best-practice messaging
  • Supporting digital campaigns and planned disruption communications
  • Reviewing and approving travel and network communications drafted by other teams
  • Producing post-incident reports and communication delivery documentation
The Hours

This role operates on a roster to support weekend and evening network activity:
  • Wednesday – Friday:  12:30pm – 9:00pm
  • Saturday – Sunday:  8:30am – 5:00pm
About You

You might be:
  • A communications, journalism, or PR graduate looking for your next role
  • A communications coordinator or junior advisor with 1–3 years' experience
  • Someone who enjoys fast-paced environments and working as part of a close-knit team
You'll also bring:
  • Strong written communication skills with the ability to adapt tone and messaging quickly
  • The ability to take clear direction and act on it promptly
  • A collaborative mindset and confidence to liaise with a range of stakeholders
  • An interest in transport, infrastructure, or public communications (a bonus, not a must)
  What's on Offer
  • 2-month initial contract  - with potential for permanent pathways
  • Based in  Takapuna, easily accessible from the North Shore and wider Auckland
  • A real opportunity to build specialist communications experience in a unique, high-impact environment
If you're ready to take on a role that's a little out of the ordinary and offers real career progression, we'd love to hear from you.
