We’re working with a well-known enterprise organisation currently undertaking a procurement-led initiative focused on gaining a clearer, group-wide understanding of market data usage, integrations, licensing, and associated commercial costs.
They are looking for an experienced Data Specialist to join on an initial 3-month contract, supporting a key RFP and vendor assessment process. This role will operate at approximately 50% capacity across the contract term, making it ideal for someone open to part-time consulting engagements, fractional contract work, or balancing another project alongside it.
About the role
This is a highly visible piece of work with strong stakeholder engagement across business, technology, procurement, and executive leadership teams.
You’ll work closely alongside a Senior Business Analyst, taking ownership of the analytical and technical discovery aspects of the engagement, including:
- Mapping the end-to-end market data landscape across the organisation
- Analysing data sources, flows, integrations, and dependencies
- Reviewing market data usage and licensing across business units
- Building a commercial cost baseline linked to usage and vendor models
- Identifying duplication, optimisation, and consolidation opportunities
- Supporting procurement-led RFP activities with insights and analysis
- Engaging with stakeholders across front office, operations, technology, and leadership teams
- Translating technical and commercial complexity into clear business insights
We’re ideally looking for someone who brings a mix of technical data understanding and commercial awareness, with the ability to operate confidently across both business and technology stakeholders. You’ll bring:
- Strong experience in data mapping, data analysis, or data architecture
- Experience working within complex enterprise environments
- Exposure to market data, financial services, banking, investment, or trading environments
- Ability to connect data usage, licensing, and commercial cost drivers
- Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills
- Experience supporting procurement, vendor reviews, or RFP initiatives is highly advantageous
- Ability to work autonomously and bring structure to ambiguous environments
**Please note that only applicants currently based in New Zealand with the appropriate work rights (valid visa) will be considered**
