We’re partnering with a well-established technology consultancy looking to add an experienced Data Engineer to their growing data practice.

This is a permanent Auckland-based opportunity for someone who enjoys working directly with clients and delivering modern, cloud-based data solutions.

About the role
Working as part of an experienced consulting team, you’ll design and deliver modern data platforms for a range of organisations across APAC.

This is a hands-on role where you’ll work across the full delivery lifecycle,  understanding client requirements, contributing to solution design, building data pipelines and platforms, and supporting solutions through to production.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Designing and building scalable cloud-based data platforms and solutions.
• Developing robust ETL/ELT pipelines and data transformation processes.
• Working with modern platforms such as Microsoft Fabric, Databricks and Snowflake.
• Building lakehouse, data warehouse and data integration solutions.
• Working with SQL, Python and modern data engineering tooling.
• Partnering directly with clients to understand requirements and translate them into practical technical solutions.

About you

We’re looking for an experienced Data Engineer who combines strong technical capability with the communication and stakeholder skills needed to succeed in a consulting environment. You’ll ideally bring:

• Previous consulting or professional services experience.
• Strong commercial experience as a Data Engineer delivering production data solutions.
• Hands-on commercial experience with Microsoft Fabric, Databricks and/or Snowflake.
• Strong SQL skills and experience with Python/PySpark.
• Experience developing ETL/ELT pipelines and modern data architectures.
• Understanding of lakehouse, data warehousing and medallion architecture concepts.
• Confidence working directly with customers and technical stakeholders.
• The ability to work across multiple projects and adapt to different client environments.

This would suit someone who enjoys solving complex data problems but equally enjoys the client-facing side of consulting, understanding the bigger picture, providing advice and delivering solutions that create genuine business value.
