This is a 5-month contract running late April through to end of September 2026.
The Role
You'll be embedded in the project team, responsible for the quality and integrity of a complex regulatory dataset being migrated into a new digital platform. Day to day, you'll be:
- Reviewing legacy and current datasets for completeness, accuracy, and consistency
- Identifying and resolving data quality issues like missing codes, inconsistent classifications, outdated values
- Working with internal SMEs and an external vendor to map and transform data into the new schema
- Running validation checks post-load across multiple test environments
- Documenting every decision, change, and rationale with full audit lineage
- Producing reconciliation reports, migration rulesets, and data dictionaries
- Supporting UAT by preparing test datasets and verifying results
Must-haves:
- Solid data analysis and data quality experience (profiling, cleansing, standardisation)
- Strong Excel skills for working with structured tabular data
- Experience documenting data decisions and maintaining audit trails
- Ability to translate technical findings into clear business language
- Comfortable working across technical teams, policy SMEs, legal, and external suppliers
- High attention to detail
- Experience with hierarchical or classification-based data structures
- Familiarity with Confluence
- Background in data migration projects within a regulatory or government context
This is complex, meaningful work on a high-profile government programme. The scope is clear, the timeline is defined, and you'll have direct input into decisions that shape how the platform launches. If you enjoy bringing rigour to a messy dataset, this one's worth a look.
