The Opportunity:
A nationally significant programme is underway — one that will have real, visible impact for New Zealanders across 13 regions. We're looking for an experienced Change Lead to play a pivotal role in driving change readiness, stakeholder engagement, and successful adoption at both a national and local level.
What You'll Be Doing:
This is a high-impact leadership role sitting at the heart of a complex, multi-region programme. You'll be responsible for:
- Leading and managing a dedicated Customer and Change team across national and local workstreams
- Overseeing the design and quality assurance of change management activity targeting both Operators and Customers
- Owning and maintaining the national change narrative, ensuring it lands effectively at a local level
- Designing and delivering integrated change initiatives spanning engagement, ambassador programmes, marketing, and distribution
- Managing change delivery for specific regional teams, including Environment Canterbury and the Regional Consortium
- Partnering closely with regional change teams to ensure alignment and consistency of approach
- Leading national stakeholder engagement through to December 2026
You're a seasoned change management professional who thrives in complex programme environments. You combine strategic thinking with hands-on delivery, and you know how to bring people on a journey.
You'll have:
- Proven experience as a change management practitioner in large, complex programmes
- Strong people leadership skills — both direct and matrix-based
- A track record in programme, project, and change management delivery
- Experience managing governance, risk, and issues at programme level
- Excellent stakeholder management, engagement, and communications skills
- Familiarity with a range of project and change methodologies
- Experience in organisational design and/or restructuring
- The ability to design and deliver training programmes
- Strong analytical and strategic thinking capability
- Experience managing regulatory change and communications channels
