The Role
- Design and build AI-driven features and services, from predictive models to generative AI applications
- Develop and operationalise solutions using large language models, including prompt engineering, orchestration and evaluation
- Build AI-enabled APIs and services that plug into customer-facing and internal systems
- Apply techniques such as NLP, classification, recommendation and retrieval-augmented generation (RAG)
- Embed explainability, human-in-the-loop controls and responsible AI practices into everything you build
- Work closely with data scientists, ML engineers and business stakeholders to turn use cases into production-grade AI capability
Must-haves:
- Strong programming skills in Python, Java or TypeScript
- 3+ years across software engineering, AI engineering or applied machine learning
- Practical experience with APIs, microservices and cloud-native architecture
- Hands-on work with LLM platforms such as OpenAI, Anthropic or open-source models
- Solid grasp of prompt engineering, RAG architectures and evaluation techniques
- A good understanding of data privacy, compliance and responsible AI
- Experience in insurance, financial services or another regulated environment
- Understanding of the end-to-end ML lifecycle (training, deployment, monitoring)
This is a small team with real scope to shape how AI gets built and used across the business, working directly with data, security, and platform teams. You'll get exposure across the full AI lifecycle, from prototype through to production, in an organisation that's investing seriously in the space.
