FAQs
How long does the recruitment process usually take?
The timeframe depends on the hiring organisation, the role, and the process followed. Contract positions are often filled within a few days, while permanent and fixed-term roles generally take 3 – 6 weeks from application to offer. Some organisations prefer an initial informal interview, while others move straight to formal interviews. Key factors influencing timeframes include the seniority of the role, the availability of candidates and interviewers, the number of interview stages, and the speed of feedback and decision-making. Whatever the approach, we work closely with both candidates and employers to make the process as smooth and efficient as possible.
What’s the difference between working directly with an employer vs. through an agency?
When you apply directly to an employer, you manage the process yourself – from submitting your CV to organising interviews and negotiating an offer. Working through a recruitment agency gives you an advocate: we connect you with suitable opportunities, prepare and support you through the process, and provide honest feedback. We also have access to roles that aren’t always advertised publicly and can negotiate on your behalf to ensure a fair outcome.
What should I expect at a Wellington government panel interview?
Government panel interviews in Wellington are typically structured and formal, with 2 – 3 interviewers assessing your skills, experience, and suitability. Questions often cover role-specific competencies, scenario-based challenges, and your motivations for the role. Panels may also explore your knowledge of Te Ao Māori, the Treaty of Waitangi, and how you incorporate cultural awareness into your work. Preparing clear, concise examples that demonstrate both technical ability and cultural competency is key. We can provide guidance and coaching to help you feel confident and ready for the panel.
Can you help me with my CV?
Yes. We can provide guidance and practical tips to help you present your skills and experience in the best possible way. This includes advice on formatting, highlighting responsibilities and achievements, tailoring content for specific roles, and making your profile more attractive to employers. Our goal is to help you stand out in a competitive Wellington job market.
What are your recruitment fees?
Our recruitment fees are outlined in our terms and conditions with the client and will vary depending on the type of recruitment services required. For permanent roles, fees are typically calculated as a percentage of the successful candidate’s first-year remuneration, while contract placements are usually charged as a markup on the hourly or daily rate. We provide a clear, upfront outline of all fees before commencing any recruitment process, ensuring there are no surprises.
Can you help us recruit senior executives?
Yes. We specialise in senior and executive-level recruitment, including CEO, CFO, and other C-suite-level appointments. Our approach combines deep market knowledge, targeted search strategies, and thorough candidate assessment to identify individuals with the right skills, experience, and cultural fit. We maintain strong networks in Wellington and across New Zealand, including access to high-calibre candidates who may not be actively seeking new roles.
