We’re looking for a confident and experienced Senior HR Business Partner to join a forward-thinking and values-led organisation with a clear purpose that its people are proud of. It is a highly innovative business within the Education sector.

On offer is a fantastic opportunity to step into a broad role on a fixed-term basis for 7 - 8 months, starting ASAP. Partner closely with senior people leaders to drive impactful people initiatives aligned with strategic goals; and implement the people plan in a meaningful, engaging and pragmatic way to support a shift in business unit capability and performance.

Lead initiatives and implement others, enjoy contributing to organisation-wide transformational change, contributing thought leadership and constructively challenging key aspects of the people strategy as it evolves and support its implementation.  
  
About the role

As a Senior HR Business Partner reporting to the Chief People Officer, you’ll relish being in a high-performing professional HR team of 6 including working alongside another Senior HR Business Partner, a junior HR Business Partner, Talent Partner and Talent Coordinator.
   
Key responsibilities include:

  • Accountable for working with leaders to diagnose current effectiveness, co-create a future ambition and shape the people aspects that are pivotal in achieving a shift. Once change is agreed, apply change management expertise to draft and implement an approach to change that considers employee experience, organisational and operational risk, & has a positive impact.
  • Support Senior Leaders and their team with architecting and embedding a culture that’s engaging and collaborative to achieve high performance outcomes which customers and stakeholders value.
  • Advise, coach and give feedback for managers and leaders that empowers them to effectively manage their teams, so they outperform, are engaged and retained - for example in areas of talent, performance, succession planning, development, engagement survey actions, health and wellbeing and employment relations.
  • Creating and implementing a resource plan for the function that optimises expertise to confidently meet the requirements of current and future workload. This includes forecasting requirements for strategic hires, early career roles and technical experts in appropriate locations and ensuring new hires are set up for success.
What we’re ideally looking for:
  • Senior HR professional across the full generalist remit in multiple professional and dynamic organisations.
  • Experience applying best practice and thought leadership to HR initiatives, challenges and opportunities and converting great thinking into smart and simple approaches.
  • Experience taking a lead role in a variety of complex change programmes and initiatives that have had a material business impact, complex stakeholder engagement and relied on a considered approach to diagnosing, designing, implementing and embedding change.
  • Expertise applying an understanding of legislation and good practice to take a lead role in a variety of employment relations issues and achieving a successful resolution that aligns to organisational values, complies with legislation and considers business risk.
  • Track record establishing credible relationships with senior leadership teams including a demonstrated ability to constructively challenge as a trusted business partner.
  • Great comms & emotional intelligence to connect, influence and coach.
In addition, you'll be competent with:
  • Key concepts of organisational effectiveness 
  • Key concepts in identifying and developing management capability
  • Analysis of quantitative information & converting it to meaningful insights that inform decisions  
  • Using a range of HR information systems 
  • Pay and career progression frameworks
  • Best practice in reward (including familiarity with job evaluation models) and appropriate terms and conditions to assure a reliable operational service. 
This role offers variety, influence, and the opportunity to work with some great leaders, within an excellent People team; and contribute meaningfully to people outcomes in a progressive and values-driven setting.

The People team are generally in the fabulous CBD office 3 days per week and have flexible working arrangements. Ideally you'll be able to do a little travel occasionally to growing offices outside of Auckland.
