The Delivery Capability team at New Zealand Police is seeking to appoint an experienced Senior Business Analyst
to help shape the future of policing in Aotearoa.
This role plays a critical part in delivering transformation and change initiatives across Police, ensuring our organisation is well positioned to achieve its strategic intent. You will engage with operational groups, senior leaders, external agencies, and partners to analyse business needs, define requirements, and design processes that deliver real value to frontline staff and communities.
As a Senior Business Analyst, you will work self-sufficiently on complex programmes and projects, lead workshops, and act as a trusted conduit between stakeholders and delivery teams. You will also play a key role in mentoring other Business Analysts and embedding best practice across the organisation.
Key Accountabilities
- Lead and deliver high-quality business analysis across large and complex transformation initiatives.
- Facilitate workshops and stakeholder engagement sessions to define business needs and objectives.
- Develop business cases, feasibility studies, cost/benefit analysis, and benefits realisation plans.
- Produce clear and effective documentation of requirements, processes, and outcomes.
- Collaborate with stakeholders across Police and external partners to ensure solutions are fit for purpose.
- Mentor and support Business Analysts, promoting consistency and best practice across the team.
You will be a highly experienced Business Analyst with a strong background in delivering transformation within large and complex organisations. You will have exceptional analytical and facilitation skills, and the ability to simplify complexity for diverse audiences.
Specifically, you will bring:
- Proven experience leading business analysis on major programmes or projects.
- Strong relationship management skills, with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels.
- Expertise in business process mapping, requirements definition (functional and non-functional), and documentation.
- Knowledge of business analysis practices, project methodologies (e.g. PRINCE2), and the Better Business Case methodology.
- Experience mentoring and supporting the development of other analysts.
- A relevant tertiary qualification (CBAP certification desirable).
