This is a critical role within a small, high-performing communications function.
The Opportunity
This position has been newly reshaped and is ideal for someone ready to step into a senior role and truly make an impact. You will lead corporate communications for the New Zealand business, partnering closely with the CEO and executive team to deliver sharp, effective internal and external communications programmes.
You’ll take ownership of New Zealand’s public communications strategy (including media relations, government relations, PR opportunities and corporate reputation management) while also supporting Investor Relations activity across the wider group.
It’s a role for someone who is comfortable operating without rigid processes, can navigate complexity, and can confidently move between drafting a media release one minute and advising executives the next.
What You’ll Lead:
- Leading public communication strategy, with a strong focus on media engagement, profile-building and proactive PR.
- Acting as the key contact for media, preparing releases, briefing spokespeople and managing reactive responses.
- Delivering internal communications for the NZ business and advising executives on messaging and engagement.
- Supporting investor relations activity, including financial results announcements and annual reporting.
- Partnering with Marketing on paid content and PR opportunities.
- Providing communication leadership for strategic projects and customer communications.
Who You Are:
You are likely a seasoned Senior Communications Advisor or Corporate Communications Manager who is ready for more ownership and a closer partnership with the business.
What You'll bring:
- Strong, proactive media relations experience — this is essential and non-negotiable.
- Experience in a heavily regulated environment
- The ability to work autonomously, move at pace and handle ambiguity.
- Comfort rolling up your sleeves; no task too big or small.
- Strong judgement and the confidence to advise senior leaders.
- Hunger to prove yourself and step into a role with meaningful influence.
- A senior role without direct reports, ideal for someone who wants strategic ownership without people management.
- Direct exposure to the NZ CEO and executive leaders.
- The chance to join a team that values trust, collaboration and healthy debate.
- An organisation undergoing transformation, offering a rich communications environment.
