Your Consultant

Momentum consultants have a sound knowledge of the employing organisations with whom they are working and the sector in which these firms operate. More often than not, your consultant will have established a reputation for placing successful people in a client organisation over a period of time.

The consultant's aim is to present a shortlist of candidates of such high calibre the hiring organisation has difficulty in choosing between applicants. As a candidate, your objective should be to do everything possible (eg interview preparation) to ensure you create a point of difference and clearly stand out as the best candidate.

Be upfront with your consultant if you have any reservations or potential conflicts eg other job interviews. Adopt a 'no surprises' policy. While the consultant will be taking your details on face value, there will always be a reference check. If conflicting information results from the check, this could undermine the consultant's confidence in presenting you to prospective employers.

If you are not ultimately successful in obtaining the original position you applied for, do not be discouraged. Positive feedback from the interviewing organisation will only strengthen the consultant's confidence in you and lead to you being promoted for other roles.

Treat every step as a learning experience. A guiding philosophy of Momentum is that candidates are potential clients and vice versa. Although we may not succeed in placing every candidate we interview, our aim is for your contact with Momentum to add value to your career aspirations.

Remember to stay in touch with your consultant. This will help them keep you in mind, especially for non-advertised roles.
